Quick Release Hooks (QRH) enable mooring lines to be quickly and easily released, even under full load conditions. A variety of mounting options exist for the quick release hook. Typically a cast QRH base is used for new installations. To upgrade older facilities, fabricated hook bases can be designed to suit existing hold-down bolt patterns to replace bollards or old QRHs. THM hooks can also be retrofitted to existing bases from other suppliers, considerably reducing on-site civil works.

What is a Quick Release Hook?

A quick Release Hook is a mooring device designed to safely release mooring lines under tension with a single, controlled action. It enables fast vessel departure during routine operations or emergencies, reducing manual effort and improving dock safety.
Commonly used at ports, offshore platforms, and harbors, a quick release mooring hook minimizes strain on the crew and allows a quick response in situations like rough weather or equipment failure.
These hooks are compatible with bollards, capstans, and both manual and remote release systems. Built from corrosion-resistant materials and engineered to meet international marine safety standards, they offer reliable performance in demanding environments.

Types of Quick Release Hooks Offered by Lion Rubber

Lion Rubber’s quick release mooring hooks are available in multiple configurations to meet diverse mooring demands. Each unit is engineered for strength, safety, and reliable release in variable marine conditions.
  • Single Hook Units

Ideal for small vessels and light-duty mooring points, single hook systems offer simple, effective line control in low-load applications.

  • Double & Triple Hook Units

Designed for larger vessels and multi-line mooring setups, these configurations improve load distribution and enhance mooring stability at busy ports, harbors, and offshore platforms.

  • Swivel Base Options

Rotating or swivel base-mounted hooks offer greater flexibility under shifting loads. They adjust easily to line angles caused by tide, vessel drift, or wave motion, reducing stress on both equipment and dock structures.

  • Manual and Electric Release Systems

Depending on your operational requirements, Lion Rubber offers both manual-release levers and electric actuation options. Each quick release boat hook system is designed for controlled disengagement, even under full load.

  • Every configuration is engineered for marine-grade durability and long-term performance, ensuring safe, efficient mooring operations in any setting.
